News Archive — The Gracechurch Centre goes dark to shine a light on Earth Hour

The Gracechurch Centre is set to plunge itself into darkness this weekend as part of the worldwide movement, Earth Hour.

All non-essential lighting, including external signage, will be switched off from 8.30pm until 9.30pm on Saturday 24th March, putting the symbolic spotlight on climate change.

The centre joins thousands of businesses across the UK taking part in the global initiative, and will also encourage all of its tenants to join the ‘lights out’ event.

Angela Henderson, centre manager at The Gracechurch Centre, said: “Earth Hour is the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, and this is now the fifth consecutive year we have taken part.

“The initiative is a fantastic way to highlight such an important global issue, and we would encourage all of our visitors to join in by turning off their household lights too” she added.

Earth Hour was established in 2007 and has since grown into a global movement with hundreds of millions of people from more than 5,000 cities and towns across 150 countries and territories worldwide switching off their lights.
