18/11/2017 until 25/11/2017
Sutton Coldfield is stepping into Christmas in style this year as The Gracechurch Centre announces its plans for the festive season.
On Saturday 18th November Free Radio breakfast presenters Dan Kelly and Naomi Kent will host this year’s Lights Switch On event, with a special appearance from the Lord Mayor of Birmingham who will switch on the Christmas lights.
Free Radio will provide a fun and festive soundtrack to the event from 3pm, with live performances from local singers, bands, choirs and performers including characters from the Sutton Coldfield Town Hall Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, and finalists from Sutton Has Musical Talent.
Entertainment will take place throughout the day, with free face painters and balloon modellers on hand to create festive faces and balloon art from 11am until 5pm.
From 12.30pm on Saturday 25th November watch as Santa makes his grand arrival in the town centre. See Santa travel through town on his sleigh before arriving to open his candy-cane themed grotto for business from 1pm. The grotto will be situated on Bishop’s Court near House of Fraser and entry will start from £6.
Face painting and balloon modelling is back to celebrate Santa’s Arrival plus the Santa Express Train will also be on offer to transport visitors through the centre.
If that wasn’t enough, The Gracechurch Centre will be open until 7pm every Thursday evening for late night shopping from 23rd November until 14th December, with free parking when you drive in after 5pm.
Stores will stay open until 7pm from Monday 18th December until Friday 22nd December for shoppers to pick up those last-minute stocking fillers and essentials for the big day.
The fun doesn’t end there, as throughout December, choirs from local schools will be performing a selection of traditional hymns and festive favourites.
